JH Bold Gold Football Report

The Post junior high football teams were in action at Roosevelt on Thursday, October 11, and came home with two wins in three games.

Eight grade student writer, Paxton Nava was at the games and filed these reports for The Garza Post.

 

8th Grade:  ROOSEVELT 20, POST 16

The 8th grade Football Team faced the Eagles at Roosevelt getting their first loss of the season, 20-16.

The offense was not working as well as it has this season.  A.J Reed rushed 13 times for only 92 yards.  A.J Escobedo ran the ball 6 times for 54 yards and got a 2-point conversion.

The defense was struggling more than normal but Auggie Menchaca and Russ Morris each recorded 5 tackles.

This week the Lopes are on the road to face Tulia seeking the first district win.  they will follow the 7th grade game scheduled for 5:00 p.m.

 

7th Grade:  POST 30, ROOSEVELT 0

The Antelope’s Mike Phergson ran 6 times for 133 yards with a passing and a running touchdown.  Brandon Britton also ran 5 times for 30 yards.

On defense Fidel Trinidad and Carson Mason each got an interception as Post came out on top 30-0.

They will face the Tulia Hornets there on Thursday at 5:00 p.m.

 

Combined B-team:  POST 14, ROOSEVELT 0

The “fun bunch” played the Eagles and Hunter Graves was just dominant.  He ran for 36 yards and two touchdowns.  Kobe Ammons ran for a 2-point conversion and a total of 15 yards.

On the defensive side Peter Lazcano and Graves got one tackle each.

The Lopes came out on top 14-0 against Roosevelt.

Thursday Post travels to play the Hamlin Pied Pipers at 5:00 p.m.
