L-Lopes Battle with Plains & Tulia

Volleyball Round-up

Published Sept. 18, 2012 @ 7:43 a.m.

According to head volleyball coach Charlyn Hohman, the varsity "girls played a great game against a hard hitting team.  There were huge improvements over the last time they played against Plains. We fought for each point right with them and never gave up!"  The match went five games last Tuesday.

Then on Saturday, the Lady Lopes competed with a more experienced Tulia team feverishly trading hits, spikes, blocks, and serves for five games before finally being closely defeated in the final game to finish the match 3-2.  Post had previously faced off with Tulia at the Shallowater tournament earlier this season.  The varsity team is now 2-6 in non-tournament, pre-district play.

All three Post High School teams host Littlefield on September 18 and then the 9th and JV Post Tournament takes place Thursday through Saturday at the Antelope arena and high school gym.

In Junior varsity volleyball action, Post beat Plains and Tulia both quickly in two game matches last week.

Coach Kylee Ford - While we didn't compete well against Seminole early Saturday morning, I was proud of the improvements that the girls made by the time we played Midland Greenwood that afternoon.  We looked like a different team and I was glad to see sparks of potential.
That effort spilled over into our game Monday night and we came out with our first win of the season against Lubbock Titans.  I am excited to work with these girls and see how we can learn and grow as a team in the coming weeks.
