Rodeo Week in Post

The action begins Thursday night

Published Aug. 10, 2011 @ 10 a.m.

A cowboy tradition in West Texas for 71 years, the annual Post Stampede Rodeo will kick off August 11 and continue nightly through August 13.  Grand entry begins at 7:45 each night.  Admission to the rodeo is $5 and children aged 6 and under are admitted free.

The annual Rodeo Parade makes its way down Main Street in Post Saturday afternoon, August 13 at 3 p.m.

Jody Nix and the Texas Cowboys play for the Rodeo Dance Friday night immediately following the rodeo performance.  Saturday night’s band is the Wes Nickson Band.  The dance is under the pavilion on the rodeo grounds.  Admission is $10 per person.

Cowboys and cowgirls like this rodeo because of its great tradition and prize money.  The always- popular Flag Race for 12 and under and Mutton Bustin’ for kids 8 and under take place every night.

See the rodeo support page for more information, or call the Post Area Chamber of Commerce, 806-495-3461.
