Buffaloes Run Away from Antelopes
Forsan 47, Post 14

FORSAN - The home field where the Buffalo roam was plenty of range for them to run wild and beat Post, 47-14, in the District 2-2A, Division II opener for both teams.
The senior leaders for Forsan (4-1, 1-0), quarterback Foster Burchett and running back/receiver Ty Johnson were too much speed and experience for the Antelopes. The duo ran for a combined 240 yards and six touchdowns and teamed-up for another TD on a Burchett to Johnson 53 yard catch-n-run.
Even though the Antelopes (1-4, 0-1) put up very respectable offensive stats, they just couldn't convert those into points. Post had 274 yards of total offense on 61 plays.
Fullback Vance Blair, who played with a gimp most of the game, rushed for 92 yards including a 72 yard run from scrimmage to the 5 yard line which set up the Lope's final score late in the fourth quarter. The next play, sophomore QB Pake Jones crossed the goal line on a keeper.
The spread offense is typically used to pass the ball (i.e. Texas tech), but the Buffaloes used it to spread out the Post defense to open holes for their ball carriers to run at will. Forsan not only received good production from Burchett and Johnson, add Brendan Roman's 82 yards, Polo Marin's 34 and Marcus Cervantez's 27 yards, as a team, the Buff's ran for 383 yards on the night. They attempted to pass just seven times for 77 yards on four completions.
Post's running game totaled 213 yards with Blair's 92, D.J. Brown's 52, Jones' 48, and Bryan Smith ran for 17 yards. The Lopes' passing game looked good with Jones hitting receivers four times for 61 yards. Wide receiver Dalton Holly caught two for 49 yards and tight end Jacob Perez had one snag for 11 yards. Perez's was for a first down in the opening quarter. Holly's catches, both in the second quarter, were high yield as well. The first was a 25 yard first down that put the Lopes in the red zone and his second was for a 24 yard touchdown, the Bold Gold's first score.
Junior Vance Blair was honored for his play by the Post Sports Radio webcasts crew and was named the Post Insurance "Antelope of the Game".
