Tony passed from this life Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Southwest Regional Medical Facility surrounded by his loving family. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Post with Rev. Nicky Johnson of Snyder officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Memorial Cemetery at Wilson. Services are under the personal care of Dee and Janet Justice, Justice-Mason Funeral Home.
Tony was born October 8, 1956 to Granville Isaac Shankles and Christine Freeman Shankles in Waxahachie. He and his family came to the Southland area and he attended school at Southland and graduated from Southland High. He attended South Plain College and then went to work as a welder. Married Amy Ryan, October 27, 1989 here in Post. They made their home here and later at Stanton. He worked for Harris Rathole Service in Midland. He worked as a welder/fabricator until his illness. At which time they moved to Slaton. Tony is preceded in death by his father: Granville Isaac Shankles, May 19, 1965.
Survivors include his wife: Amy Shankles of Slaton. One son: Anthony Wade Shankles, II and a daughter: Samantha Nicole Shankles, both of which live in the home. He is also survived by his mother: Christine Shankles of Odessa. Three brothers: Kyle Shankles of Hooks; Stephen Shankles also of Hooks and Wesley Shankles and his wife Lizz of Hermleigh. Two sisters: Naomi Shankles of Beaverton, Oregon and Melody Scott and her husband Doug of Odessa. Special friends are: Clifford and Carol Holder of Wilson; Kathy Baker of Columbus, Ohio; James and Barbara McDonald of Newport News, Virginia; John and Maryann Hallman of Macedon, New York and Jeff Bonnett of Abbotsford, BC, Canada.
Pallbearers will be: Sam Arizmendi, Charles Lee, Louis Odem, Brent Harris, Oscar Luna and Lee Kamoss. Honorary Pallbearers will be: J.R. Harris, Greg Maca, John Hallman, James McDonald and Blake Price.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home Friday, June 1, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
