Bold Gold named "Army Strong Team of the Week"

A-J Honor Roll

On the heels of the district title win over Abernathy, the Post Antelope varsity team is recognized with a statewide honor:  the Army Strong Team of the Week in 2A football.  

The United States Army and TexasFootball.com "join together to select one team from every classification in high school football that demonstrated the qualities exhibited within the Army - those include leadership, commitment to excellence and a desire to make a difference as a member of a team," according to the web site. 

Post Head Coach Steve Smith told The Garza Post "it's a great honor and really representative of our team.  We play strong and with mitlitary discipline or at least that's what we strive for.  It is a great reward for a deserving bunch of players."

Also, noted in the Lubbock A-J's LoneStarVarsity.com weekly honor roll, four Post Antelopes were featured for their play in the district championship game:

D.J. Brown, RB, Post, 5-6, 140, Jr.: Rushed for 160 yards and a touchdown in a 21-14 win over Abernathy.

Nathan Gill, LB, Post, 6-0, 191, Sr.: Had nine tackles, a sack, two tackles for losses and a fumble recovery in a 21-14 win over Abernathy.

Dalton Holly, DB, Post, 5-10, 155, Sr.: Recorded 10 tackles, two interceptions and a pass breakup in a 21-14 win over Abernathy.

Bryan Smith, LB, Post, 6-0, 165, Soph.: Had 10 tackles, one tackle for a loss and a pass breakup in a 21-14 win over Abernathy.
