JV Lopes Improve to 6-1

LITTLEFIELD - The Bold Gold JV (1-0, 6-1) went to Littlefield on Thursday night to play the Wildcats (3-4) in a non-district game. Post was suppose to play Tulia but they cancelled their JV season.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Antelopes exploded for 21 second quarter points. Post's first touchdown came when Cambry Gilbert intercepted a Littlefield pass and returned it 68 yards. Gilbert also added the 2-point conversion. Post took an 8-0 advantage.
On the Lopes next possession, Gilbert scored his second touchdown of the night. Gilbert took the pitch for QB Blaine Reece who smashed a couple of Littlefield defenders, used a block from Shandon Wiley and raced to the endzone for a 38 yard touchdown. Later in the quarter he added a 68 yard touchdown making the halftime score Post 21 - Littlefield - 0
The offense and defense were a little sluggish starting the 3rd quarter. Littlefield drove into the red zone but on 4th and goal from the 5, Jared Curtis knocked down the pass in the end zone keeping the shutout in place. On the very next play, Gilbert would get Post out of the shadow of its own end zone as he gained 50 yards on the play as the 3rd quarter came to a close.
The first play of the fourth quarter Wiley made a diving catch to give Post a first and goal from the 9. Gilbert finished the drive with a nine yard run.
Rafael Gonzales was two for three on extra points for Post.

The Lopes return to district action on Thursday, October 25 at Floydada for a 6:00 p.m. kickoff.
