Brown Earns Area 2A Player of the Week

Smith and Rodriguez are honor rollees

The Lubbock Avalance-Journal chooses players of the week from various classifications and a weekly honor roll of area football players who excelled in the previous game.

Post junior tailback D.J. Brown bettered his running game from the first game against Mortan by 68 yards gaining 261 yards on the ground this past Friday at home against Lamesa.

A couple of sophomore Antelope linebackers were also recognized by the A-J by making the football honor roll this week.

CLASS 2A AREA PLAYER OF THE WEEK

D.J. Brown, Post, 5-6, 140, Junior, Running back.  Last week: Brown has helped the Antelopes get off to a 2-0 start to the season and was the focal point in the team’s 40-33 win over Lamesa.  In the game, he rushed for 260 yards on 30 carries and scored four touchdowns.

Bryan Smith, LB, Post, 6-0, 165, Soph.: Had nine tackles in a 40-33 win over Lamesa.

Alejo Rodriguez, LB, Post, 5-8, 165, Soph.: Recorded nine tackles in a 40-33 win over Lamesa.
